So The xx dropped their new album ‘I See You’ today and I’ve already listened to it a few times. ‘Brave for You’ is my song at the moment. It’s a classic xx song filled with nostalgia and that beautiful haunting guitar solo(s) I love so much. Madley will forever hold a soft spot in my heart because her voice is amazing, yet so simple. This song, for me, is hauntingly accurate. It’s just one of those songs. The words just make me melt:
In all I know
In all I’ve done
I take you along
Though you’re not here
I can feel you there
I take you along
And when I’m scared
I imagine you’re there
Telling me to be brave
Just… yesssss. If I sit here and reallly nit pick this song, it could be a softer, more laid back version of Bruno Mars’ ‘Grenade’ song the way she says she’ll do anything for this man:
Either way, I prefer this one, I’m not the biggest Bruno fan, but his newest album is probably his best ever. Shit is smooooooth.
Anyhow, there’s a new direction on this album with most of the songs being worked into a Jamie xx sound somewhat along the lines of ‘In Colour’ and I am not mad at that at all. I love the addition of heavier drums and more experimental instruments and sounds. They are one of my favorite bands and their music speaks volumes even if they don’t have extreme high notes or boisterous voices. Check out the new album on Spotify or anywhere you can find it.
Jamie xx is set to release a new album in June titled “In Colour” and so far a few tracks have been released. ‘Loud Places’ is the newest one featuring fellow band mate and best friend Romy from The xx. Both enjoyed skateboarding growing up and figured the video would be good doing so. Hopefully we get a new xx album soon. Ready for a new one.
If this doesn’t get you excited, I don’t know what will. We get an official almost 3 minute long trailer from one of the greatest books ever written (it’s a favorite). Jay-Z is scoring the whole soundtrack and giving it a modern sound while keeping the key elements. The trailer opens up with a rework of Amy Winehouse’s Back to Black courtesy of Andre 3000 & Beyoncé. Then when it breaks we get a new tune from Lana Del Rey Young and Beautiful, followed by the grand voice of Florence + the Machine with Over The Love. The soundtrack will have 14 cuts and the deluxe version will consist of 17 through Target. It will be available for purchase digitally on May 7th. Check out the track list below. I am WAY excited for this but I can’t wait to hear Coco O. from Quadron’s song. Needless to say The xx, Jay’s new song, Jack White, Sia and Nero. I want to know what the other 3 tracks will be and who they will consist of. Enjoy!

I can sit here and say how exquisite this show was and how fucking awesome they are and sound but, we all know that. Point is, they sound exactly the same and I think I’m in love with Oliver. They went on at 10:21p.m. and ended somewhere around 11:30. Jamie xx is a fucking bad ass. The end.
I took some videos and pictures. Enjoy. The longest video is “Swept Away/Shelter” I think my heart stopped when Shelter started as well as Islands just because those are two of my favorite songs as well as “Friction”. Again, enjoy.
Intro/Tides (Thanks Chris for letting me borrow your phone cause mine said fuck you):
I am none of the girls shouting or yelling. Maybe in some but it’s not super high pitched nor low pitched lmao!
And sorry for the crappy pics. I miss my Galaxy S just for that reason but cameras were allowed apparently and I didn’t get the memo. Womp, womppp.
Oh Mikky I wanted to overlook you on Rihanna’s “Stay” song because I liked it without you but it grew on me. I loved “Pull Me Down” from the get go but I wasn’t having such satisfaction with “Stay” needless to say, I forgive you, you’ve grown on me like a freckle out of nowhere and it won’t go away. So forgive me for being judgmental this one time. I was wrong!!! I love your music.
That being said, this xx cover and your way of Pull Me Down just did me in (especially The xx cover). Not only that but you’re opening for Jessie Ware. Fucking nice job my man! I want more music though… chop chop.
The xx shows through these short three documentaries how they work, compose and perform. Jamie-James Medina captures them everywhere. This is completely worth a watch to see how their minds work and how they make their one of a kind music.
As if I’m not wrapped enticingly around their finger, they did a stripped down version of Angels and Teardrops. It’s so fucking perfect. February cannot hurry up and get here. I’m super excited for this concert.
