Video: Rick Ross-Trap Trap Trap Feat. Young Thug & Wale

First, let’s start off with me saying I do not care for Young Thug… one bit. I am honestly surprised he’s come this far. That being said, I do not dislike him here. I actually understand his ass. Ross has always had a distinguishable voice and it’s the reason I listen to him. This song goes hard and one of my favorites from the beginning. I MISS THIS WALE! Where the hell has this one been hiding? I love Wale, he will forever be the underdog and it sucks because he has such talent. His voice is amazing rapping, talking, singing etc. I will always be a Wale fan and I loved how he just let it flow here. Ross’ new album so far (still listening to it) is pretty damn solid. I haven’t skipped a song so that’s a good thing. He freaking called out Birdman!!! Ahhhhhh that shit was so good. Anyway, here’s this song lol.

P.S. I hope when you watch this video you see that Wingstop is the ad on the video! Well played Rick, well played.

Video: Nelly Furtado-Pipe Dreams

Not sure how the hell I missed this one but this song is life. Low key Nelly came out to play and just dropped this out of thin air and delivered. She takes us to church with the organ in a subtle way. She gives me a Jessie Ware laid back feel in this one. Kind of excited for what this album will sound like. ‘The Ride’ is due out March of this year.

Don’t sell me no pipe dreams
I wanna live with you through everything
Don’t sell me no pipe dreams
I wanna live in a kaleidoscope
Don’t sell me no pipe dreams
Wanna be the one to spin the wheel

Video: 6lack-Loyal

If you’ve been under a rock and haven’t jammed to any music by 6lack, stay there. When his music first dropped I was hooked. This song is my favorite, just because I empathize with the man, and know all about dishonesty and unfaithfulness. All of his songs are amazing from beginning to end. He’s only 24 but exudes so much pain and I can sit here and find myself or any situation within each. “Free 6lack” came out in November but ‘PRBLMS’ came out in June of last year. ‘Free 6lack’ comes from wanting to be free from past relationships and also his relationship with his old record company where he was stuck for about 6 years. He follows a heavily monochromatic way (amazing) and with this album, it proves to the world he’s here to make a mark.

Would you please dig up the strength to show you really even care
I know I said I’m psychic, but tell me what’s on your mind…

Really hope you find your relationship goals
My next gonna wonder why a nigga so cold
Cause I found out that everything that glitters ain’t gold…

I’ve been so loyal, baby
What about you?

That line: “Cause I found out that everything that glitters ain’t gold”
Best line ever. Not only because it is true, but because it is so close to Robert Frost’s poem “Nothing Gold Can Stay” which happens to be one of my favorite poems.

But anyway, do yourself the favor and listen to his album if you don’t already have it on repeat on any device you have.

Here is his soundcloud where you can stream his album.

Music: Alina Baraz-Electric Feat. Khalid

Say it isn’t fucking so! We are graced with Ms. Alina Baraz once again. Yesssss BUT if you haven’t been under a rock and know Khalid, this makes this so much better. Alina had an EP with Galimatias names ‘Urban Flora’ a few moons ago and it’s still in heavy rotation for me. Alina just has that voice and Khalid just put music out and bam. He’s from Texas by the way, hails from El Paso. This song is amazing! Take a listen and fall in love.

Alina will be touring so if you’re interested, check her out on social media.

#TBT Video: Russ-Losin Control

This song will always be amazing and so will this video. I’m still in love with this man’s voice and his creativity. If you’ve never heard Russ’ music, check him out. He has something for everyone but this is  my absolute favorite song.

She’s fallin’ in love now, losin’ control now
Fightin’ the truth, tryin’ to hide
But I think it’s alright, girl

Music: Ed Sheeran-Shape Of You

Ed Sheeran has come out of hiatus! Rejoice! I will say it took me longer than most to fall in love with this ginger. He dropped two songs ‘Castle on the Hill’ and this track titled ‘Shape of You’, this track is my favorite out of the two. It’s playful, it’s upbeat and most of all, it’s an ode to the body of the one you love. Bodies come in all shapes and sizes and to me, this is a body positive song because it’s not describing a perfect body, it’s describing the fluidity of the shape the person owns. He’s so smart for that. I’m more of the let it bleed Ed Sheeran songs where your heart just swells but I absolutely love this song. Can’t wait to hear the rest of the album.

Feels || Video: If I Believe You-The 1975

This is and will remain my favorite song off of this album. Just the mellow electro textures on this song make it such a good sappy one. When the trumpet comes in, it’s just… bliss. I will never get tired of this song, it’s an instant classic for those who really listen to the lyrics and the communication between instruments, including Healy’s voice. ‘Somebody Else’ is another favorite of mine but ‘I like it when you sleep, for you are so beautiful yet so unaware’ is my favorite song to sleep to. This was in fact a great album by The 1975. Can’t wait to see what they come out with next.

And if I believe you,
Would that make it stop if I told you I need you?
Is that what you want?
And I’m broken and bleeding, and begging for help.
And I’m asking you Jesus, show yourself.

…If I’m lost then how can I find myself?
Then how can I find myself?

Video: Andra Day-Burn (Hamilton Mixtape)

So let’s talk about Andra Day. She’s got serious talent, an amazing voice full of pain, rasp and grit. We’ve all seen/heard her on commercials and other soundtracks and she is always compared to Rihanna. Both looks and sound. I get it, I see it, but Andra Day is so much more than a comparison and you learn that in this song alone. This whole mixtape is amazing but this song… this song is my favorite. The lyrics are so good and she’s the perfect person for this song. She made me feel like I was her. I’m not too educated on Hamilton but I am curious to see it if able to. I do know Andra murdered this song and I’m looking forward to a new album from her.

I’m erasing myself from the narrative
Let future historians wonder how Eliza
Reacted when you broke her heart

You have torn it all apart
I am watching it
Burn

Watching it burn
The world has no right to my heart
The world has no place in our bed
They don’t get to know what I said
I’m burning the memories
Burning the letters that might have redeemed you
You forfeit all rights to my heart
You forfeit the place in our bed
You sleep in your office instead
With only the memories
Of when you were mine
I hope that you burn

Video: Banks-Lovesick

“I knew your love, before you kissed me.”

I am in love with this album but this song is my jam right now. Mainly because of what it says and the feelssssss. ‘Fuck with Myself’ is my anthem and ‘Mind Games’ is my third runner up. This is a solid album by Banks, although I never expected less of her. She never disappoints. She reminds me of a living Penny Dreadful because her music is not the norm and her aesthetics aren’t either and I’m obsessed with her darkness. Definitely an artist I will always look forward to. If you’re new to her, you’re late, extremely late. Get on it.

Video TBT: Diddy-Dirty Money-Angels (Remix) Feat. Rick Ross

This is honestly one of the most underrated songs ever. I love every part of this song. Down to the synths, the autotune, the drums the triangle, everything. The lyrics don’t hurt either. Happy Fall, Happy Thursday, Happy Ma’fuckin Libra Season… best sign in the world. If you meet a Libra, love a Libra, keep them. Those who lost them, sucks for you lol.

Video: Shawn Mendes-Treat You Better

As usual, I’ve neglected the shit out of my blog. I’m busy, super fucking busy but I still jam out and find new people or people I like to listen to. So for like the half reader I have, here is something new. Well, not new but I love this song so much. It’s soooo mainstream and so pop but I just love Shawn Mendes. My nieces are obsessed with this song and I am too. Plus, the video has a strong message that’s good to see.

Music: Lais-Moon & Stars 2 Feat. Skizzy Mars

So Lais has been on my radar for a while but as we can see, I’m late to posting shit on here. I’ve just honestly not cared but I do care now LOL. Lais dropped his EP ‘114’ on the 19th after they stole his producer’s laptop and backup drive. Most of ‘114’ was on there and he had to re-record the majority of it. Talk about focus. He hails from Toronto. If you listen to Drake’s OVO Sounds Radio, you may have heard a little tune by the name of ‘For You’ played on there. No shocker there as Drake is one of his influences but Drake digs him too. Check him out and check out his EP ‘114’ named after the address from his home.

Cocaine Rain is the jam as well.

Music: Troye Sivan–Bite

I discovered Troye on accident. Usually, I’m searching for new music with the intention of finding music that way but I accidentally downloaded this song thinking it was another one and I’m glad I did. Troy is 20 years old and hails from Australia. If you are into X-Men you’ll recognize him as the young Wolverine in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. From what I can tell, he’s a big deal on YouTube lol. He has a cool voice and the musicality of his songs are bad ass. The below song contains a sample of ‘Grindin’ by Clipse. Feels like a few people have been sampling that now but whatever, I like it on this song.

What is awesome about him? He’s so unabashed by his sexuality and that kicks ass.
